This is what happens when we don't do laundry for a week...It no longer fits in the laundry basket...it overflows onto the bed...very classy!
I decided to try and plan a "romantic" evening for me and Marcus. I went online to citysearch and NYTimes restaurant reviews. I found a great little Italian place two blocks from our house to try. It was imported to NYC directly from southern Italy and it is called iTrulli. There was the cutest fireplace (real) right next to our table, a great wine list, and a beautiful patio which must be amazing in the summer. We LOVED it and really loved the wine. We finished the bottle we ordered and ordered two galsses of Chianti for dessert. Very fun night and a great dinner! Marcus had a rack of lamb and I had a cornish game hen (Marcus ate most of it). Overall, great night, amazing restaurant!
Someone's hiding from being bad...Charley surveying the damage...
Where the trouble all started...

This is what happens when mom comes home and dad forgot to shut the bathroom door before he left for work...(mom leaves for the gym earlier in the morning than dad leaves for work...)

Kind of random I know...these are pics of the "windows" at work. Jacques does new windows every 8weeks and so far these are my favorite ones...very modern and very chic. The gowns are Amariladine, very beautiful "beach wedding" dresses. LOVE IT!

NYC's first real snow of the year!

I cannot believe how funny it is when it snows more than 1/4inches of snow in NYC. You wouldn't believe how the city shuts down. I think it snowed maybe 4inches today and it might as well have been 14 inches of snow. I guess I'm too use to New Hampshire (college) Boston (Law School) and Colorado (home) where snow is more than common place in the winter. anyhow, here are a few pics of Madison Square Park that I walk through everyday on my way to work. Also is the flatiron building, one of the most amazing buildings in the city...

DFMC 2008

Check out my Dana Farber webpage for the marathon. I think I am finally done editing it - go to www.RunDfmc.org then go to "support a runner", type in my name and my page will pop up.

The countdown is on...

I need to comment on how cute Marcus is...obviously the match is very important to him, to both of us really, it will determine where our next four years will be spent. At any rate, he has created a triple countdown clock on our laptop (yes, similar to ones that girls make for the wedding countdowns...) So, we have one clock counting down the days until he has to certify his rank list for the match, one for the match day, and one for the day where we find out where it is that he matched...So funny - and for those who don't know medical lingo (ie match) it is a program that the med schools came up with to "match" students to their top preferred programs.
Pics are from Marcus' first interview for residency programs at Elmhurst in Queens back in September 2007. Seems like so long ago...(note the polo under the suit to prevent "pitting out" the nice button down white...lol)

More Marathon themes...

Today was very slow at work so I managed to type out my marathon fundraising letters and put together my mailing for the year. It was hard to keep my mind off the marathon especially since it is so soon and my legs still hurt so badly from Saturday's run. Can we say we have quite a ways until the 26.2 won't hurt so badly??? This picture is my inspiration (i'm in the far right corner in the cute running skirt, and yes, this is about 100yards from the Boston finish line!)

A day after running a half marathon...

Yesterdays training run was 13.1 miles, exactly a half marathon. I must say that I felt great yesterday after the run and even last night. I did a preventative bath soak after the run and a few advil just to make sure. However, today did not show or feel like I took preventative measures. I forgot how badly it hurts to run so many darn miles. Mostly the pain is in my quads and my glutes. I took the day off and I am sure by tomorrow I will be able to run with minimal to no pain. Tomorrow's run is only a maintenance 4mile run anyhow so that's good.

With these miles increasing, it can only mean that marathon monday is closely approaching...

Sushi in Manhattan

Thought I would post a few pictures of a Saturday night out in Manhattan. We went to Matsuri, the sushi place, and had the worst service ever and even worse sushi. Definitley not worth the money we spent on it. Nonetheless, we had a nice time with Josh and some of his friends and with each other, so I suppose that's all that matters.

Huevos Rancheros...

Based on these three pictures and the title of the post...I doubt that much else needs to be said...

My Boss' Obesessions...

These are some of my boss' various obsessions. In case you couldn't tell, he has some random things that he obsesses about like mints, breath wash, lotions, and excessively large bottles of aspirin advil and antacids. I love how funny my job is...

wishing for those summer days...

After such a cold day - we figured we needed some "summer pictures" to warm it up!

A snowy. blustery, bitter cold day in NYC

Today was very very cold in the city. While watching the Today show at the gym this morning, I heard that, with the wind chill, it was eight degrees below zero. Needless to say, my mile and a half walk to work was frigid this morning. All we can hope is that it warms up as the week goes on. Thank god we have an aparatment and heat.

A day in the life of our pets...

As you can see, the pets at 137 East 29th Street have quite a nice and relaxing life. Lots of toys, free reign of ALL apartment space AND all furniture, lots of scooby snacks, long walks, etc. But the best part of all, the ability to lounge all day!

I needed to post a picture of Jake after he ate all the trash last week. As you can imagine, he vomitted all night and then didn't eat for two days straight because his poor tummy was trying to process all the trash. This is him laying on the bed feeling a little sick. Poor dude.

Is it match day yet????

Marcus and I are eagerly awaiting "match day". It is the day taht we will know where he is going to be doing his residency for the next four years (ie. where we will be moving in June). It is very exciting yet I am getting very impatient, I just want to know. I am sometimes an everlasting planner so I need to know when we are going, where we will be going, make packing plans, job plans, look for a house, etc. The list is endless and not knowing is making the anxiety levels rise.

In the meantime, I am keeping busy with the marathon training. First blister of "training season" struck on Thursday of last week. I thought about posting a picture of it, but decided that was too gross...haha. It hurts like crazy but I was still able to put 8miles on the road yesterday. The run felt pretty rough - my asthma lungs are just not up to par yet. So basically, I have quite a ways to go before I am ready for 26.2 but I'm making it to the gym every day and putting in the miles. By the time April 21st rolls around, I am sure I will be ready to go!

A NEW BABY!

Jon and Amy are having a BABY! Just found out the big news on Friday night!!!! We are so excited for them. Amy is only seven weeks pregnant so she still has a long way to go, but they are so excited and will definitely be the best parents! I am eagerly awaiting the pictures of any first sign of a "bump". Right now though, I am told that the little guy (gal) is only the size of a chickpea...I guess I might have to wait a while for that "bump" picture. CONGRATS GUYS!

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Ok, so I have been neglecting posting lately. It is time to talk about how bad Jake's behavior was last night. It was "Fat Tuesday" ie, Mardi gras so Marcus and I wanted to go out to dinner one last night before we get serious about dieting, etc. I was rushing home from work to meet Marcus at one of our favorite cheap Mexican food restuarants. As I get home (and I must first preface this with, whenever anyone even gets near our front door or puts a key in a the lock to unlock it, Jake goes wild barking, howling, jumping, etc because he is excited for someone to come home) Anyhow, as I enter the apartment, there is no barking, no howling, no movement, NOTHING - which, ofc ourse, can only mean one thing..."badness". The second I walk in the door, all I see if trash everywhere!!!! EVERYWHERE!!!! Yes folks that's right - he toppled over the kitchen trash can and proceeded to dump it all out and carry it across the entire apartment. Kleenexes, dirty tampons, you name it, he ate it. I was soooo angry and then to have to clean it all up - you can only imagine. Then the poor little dude was vomitting all night from eating bad things.

As my mom said, if you leave trash out etc he is of course going to get into it but still, he is not like a total puppy anymore, he is almost two for heaven's sake. BAsically, it means that I had to go and suck it up and buy a trash can for the kitchen that is stainless steel and impossible for him to get into while we are at work during the day. And, might I add, it cost $40! Good Lord! Ahhh the joys of having a pet!

Finally, I have decided to post a few pictures from Marcus', Jake's, and my trip home to Colorado. It was the first official time that Jake had seen more than two inches of snow. He LOVED it! And of course, he had his Red Sox coat on to keep him warm. After our Colorado trip, we decided that, long term, Jake needs a big yard to run around in and a wife of course ;)

Another Lazy Saturday......
